Claire Danes Comes To Terms
(Associated Press - September 28, 1996)

New York (AP) -- Stuck at an awkward age, 17-year-old Claire Danes has made peace with herself -- and her precocious acting talent.

"I KNOW I'm sometimes goofy. I KNOW I'm young -- I've come to terms with that!" Danes says in the October issue of W magazine. "As a kid, I wanted to be a teenager so badly! Now I can't wait 'til I'm in my 20s."

Star of the TV drama My So-Called Life, Danes graduated to feature films after the angst-filled teen show got the ax, appearing in Little Women, How to Make an American Quilt and Home for the Holidays.

Upcoming Dane efforts include For Gillian, On Her 37th Birthday and a lead role in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

So what has so much early success taught the budding movie star?

"It's a good thing to be human, to be flawed," Danes says. "I just have to keep relearning that all the time."
